4. Direction for use of Disposable PVC Tracheostomy Tube Anatomy
● Remove the sterile tracheotomy tube form the package.
● Test/inflate cuff using a luer-tip syringe.
● Completely deflate cuff after test inflation.
● With the obturator in place(if supplied), inset the tracheotomy tube through the stoma and position in the tracheal in accordance with currently accepted medical technique.
● Following insertion, remove the obturator(if used) and slowly inflate the cuff with the minimum amount of air required to effect a seal.
● Remove the syringe from the one-way valve.
● Attach the swivel adapter to the 15mm termination of the tracheotomy tube and connect the ventilator circuit to the swivel adapter, The anti-disconnect lugs on the swivel should be utilized to help against accidental disconnect.
● Secure the tracheotomy tube.
